APPLAUSE CONCERTS
Applause Concerts was founded by in 2017 with a mission to present a wide array of professional arts performances for Melrose and the surrounding communities. It was launched as a pilot project in June of that year with a performance of Gilbert and Sullivan's The Pirates of Penzance, performed by Greater Worcester Opera. This pilot project was made possible with a seed money grant from the Melrose Messina Fund for the Arts. The show was a great success, and the idea of Applause Concerts was greeted with great enthusiasm. Applause will continue to present events from time to time as it gears up to present a full season of shows and concerts in the 2019-2020 season.
Applause Concerts was founded by producer and performer (and Melrose resident) Mark Morgan. Morgan, who was the founding Artistic Director of New England Light Opera, has produced hundreds of concerts across eastern Massachusetts for over 15 years. A professional singer and conductor, he looks forward to sharing music from many groups in many genre with the residents of Melrose. "We have a great scene going here for live music with the Symphony, Polymnia Choral Society, and Beethoven Society, but I saw a need and opening for a regular series of performances by professional artists in a variety of genre. Our experience with presenting Pirates proved there is an enthusiastic audience here, and that we have an economic model that will work to present shows on a large and small scale. "
Applause is now building the infrastructure to present these full seasons and invites you to join them on this journey! If you'd like to volunteer in helping plan events, market and publicize them, usher at a performance, etc. please contact Mark Morgan at mark@applauseconcerts.com
